On the 11th January, Triple 6 officially announced its entry into the 2010 World Zero Carbon Championships ran by TTXGP.
The exciting announcement comes after tying in a deal at the back end of 2009 to supply Mavizen, the company behind the World’s first production electric superbike, with the carbon fibre electronics box that are used to hold all the batteries, motors and electrics necessary to run the bikes. The electronics box also forms a structural part of the chassis providing stiffness across the frame in the absence of the existing RC8 motor from the KTM based bike.
The team will compete in all the UK rounds of the championship, with a view to qualifying for the World final held in Albacete, Spain later in the year. They are also looking to run the bike at the Isle of Man TT this June.
Nick Potts, Director of 666 Road Racing said;
“We are very excited to be a part of the World’s first Zero Carbon Championship. Technology is progressing so quickly with these electric motorbikes that we were keen to become more involved with the project, not just off the track but also on it. We are all looking forward to a successful campaign in the TTXGP in 2010.”
Team Triple 6 will be running one of the Mavizen RC8 Superbikes in the championship and are set to receive one of the first models off the production line. Talking about the new bike, Nick said;
“We have been working very closely with Mavizen on the carbon fibre electronics box, and have been so impressed with the way the guys are putting together the new bikes, that we knew this would be the bike for us to race with in 2010. The technology in the bike and the attention to detail is phenomenal, and getting one of the first bikes off the production line will give us maximum time to test the machine and get everything set up ready to race later in the year.”
At present, Triple 6 are looking for title/part sponsors and would welcome enquiries from anyone interested in being a part of this new and exciting championship. Please email 666 Road Racing at info@666roadracing.com if you are interested in discussing this further.
